Listening to this for the first time, the dreamy melodies transport you away from what is, allowing you to Lose yourself In Translation of each note. I am reminded of the city’s bright flickering lights, the noises from the crowded roads, the commotion all around, the dodgy karaoke joints, the dirty cigg butts that litter the floor, the loneliness she felt at the Hyatt.
Isn’t it funny, that even with so much noise, it is still possible to sound (and feel) so quiet?
Oh how I’ve been waiting for this video.

“i can do it in one take, im fuckin tight”- Love It
Absolutely love the music, and the usage of such beautiful live music as opposed to the conventional hiphop beats. Spectacular and very inspiring. I am in awe.

M.I.A, Born Free by ROMAIN-GAVRAS
On the verge of ruin
You’ll see it all clear
How steep the fall is
How long the way back is
On the verge of success
It’s all white and fluffy
Horizons are blurred
By the time you reach your goal
Tongues will be twisted
To the point where you’ll lose track of your soul
Distorted pictures is all you deliver
José González
I’ve been slightly obsessed with this song for the past week
Cinéma vérité style. 1969
Mostly considered an anti-drug film, it was made for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The film follows its protagonist, Donny B, a young black man who appears to be a heroin addict, as he makes his way through the cruel ghettos of New York City… Through the run time of 14 minutes, a blues-like tune plays over the footage and voice-overs, with vocals that come in and out during the film, narrating Donny B as he does wrong.
This is a track done by my best friend BillyMisfits. There’s something utterly haunting about it, I like that.
“I try not to try” – Billy Childish
The evening falls onto the West
The silent breeze speaks quietly
Onto to the hollow beat of the breast.
The solid titanium quadrant of your brain
escapes the beginning of the end
And silently says you should refrain.
You are the best. She is the worse.
Forever burn unto to the toast
blackened ripe with solitary hope.
Draining, she has in store
For excessive possession of one’s dope
Collapse unto your shoulder floor.
441 Magazine is a new publication I started with Mariel and Paul Marin (they’re cousins) and tonight we just wrapped up our first video shoot with the band BLOK. Here’s a photo of BLOK. I’m hoping awesome things are going to be in the works with 441. It already seems to be blowing up and we haven’t even produced the first issue yet! This would actually turn me off because of all the hype happening before actually producing anything, but in this case it seems to me that I’ll fine. Either that or I just don’t care about the ‘pressures’ anymore. Be free. Be alive. Do what you want. Rock on Garth. Rock on Wayne. BLING!
This is quite old but really it’s just so beautiful! The song and the video. LOVE.
