amidst all the challenges and rush, such songs make me think of all the beauty the universe has in store. breathtaking wide open skies. the freshest air in our lungs. the calming sight of neverending seas. the comfort of wind in the face. the list could go on.

Mount Batur, Bali, Indonesia

The third trip to Bali saw us paying a visit to Mount Batur and her magnificence for the second time. Nothing beats the feeling of being able to witness such grandness in the most natural surroundings, with fresh air in your lungs and the cool weather kissing your face. Of course, videos do not do justice to Mother nature’s wonders.

I backed this video with the sounds of traditional Balinese Gamelan music. With the music, I find myself getting somewhat “into” the video, almost in a “hypnotised” state, especially during the parts where the video is being zoomed in.

Anyways, to quote Wiki, “Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung, Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. The inner 7.5-kilometer-wide caldera, which was formed during emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago. The lake, Danau Batur, is the largest crater lake on the island of Bali and is a good source of fish.

we discovered a beautiful old school payphone in an abandoned building in jakarta, indonesia. i wonder how many lovers relied on this.

Ola! This is superly overdue, but finally, here’s part two of my Manila, Philippines visit this August. About a 45-50 minute drive from where I was putting up in Quezon, the stunning San Agustin Church was worth the ride. It was beautiful being there. Certainly brought much needed calm to my heart.

A Roman Catholic church under the auspices of The Order of St. Augustine, San Agustin is located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros, Manila. It was completed in 1607 and is the oldest church still standing in the Philippines.

Its interior is absolutely charming. The beautiful ceiling murals were handpainted in 1875 by Italian artists.


This beautiful girl is Richie Chen. She’s a 27 yr old moderate Buddhist living and working for ‘The Man’ in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She believes “to listen to only one kind of music is like having only one emotion.” Her favorite quote comes from an American classic, Jack Kerouac from On the Road:

“The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow Roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars, and in the middle, you see the blue center-light pop, and everybody goes ahh…”

Farah is a 26 year old Southeast Asian city-dweller hailing from the international city-state of Singapore. She works in PR and loves drumming, traveling, Filipino boys, artists, sarcastic bullshitters, beautiful alignments, and anything else in the world that utters “amazing.” She’s a non-stop go-getter and a righteous cat. She will be responsible for the direction of NEU FISH! from now on. And since she’s been a long time contributor and a friend of ours for far longer, we feel our beloved NEU FISH! will be in good hands. – Low & Sara
